New Years Eve

December 31, 2007
Today we had our friends that we met at Walter Reed over to hang out for New Year. It was good to be around people like us. We miss having stories to share and people understanding them. Bryan and M talked a lot about their injuries and military stuff. I think it was good for both of them. We had a really good time.

Christmas is Coming

December 23, 2007
Today Bryan is heading back from Walter Reed two days before Christmas and our company is coming in tomorrow. My mom and sister are spending Christmas with us and then Christmas night we will drive to Nashville to spend it with my mom’s side of the family. Bryan hasn’t spent it with them in a couple of years so I can’t wait.

Disability Rating

December 19, 2007
Today is the pivotal day, Bryan gets his rating. I got the call while at work and he said I got 70% disabled. This is the number we were hoping for. He will be Temporarily Retired for the next 5 years so it doesn’t end here. Every year he will have to be re-evaluated until they decide it’s a permanent disability. It’s all very confusing. The rating from the VA should be 100% and that is who we will choose to receive payments from because they will be higher. I am relieved and ecstatic that we don’t have to fight this rating. However we have friends who went through all of this before us and they have had a lot of trouble using the VA. I am not naive enough to think the buck stops here. At least we know that his injuries will be covered as well as his medications that we could not afford without this insurance. Bryan should be heading home tomorrow. I am so glad this is almost over with. At least with the VA it’s an hour and a half drive and not 9. Now it’s time for some serious job hunting.
