Bryan got a call today that said he didn’t have to work on Monday. He failed to tell me this and I overheard him tell my dad. He is afraid something is going on since shit hit the fan before he left. He is afraid he might be fired and I am afraid too but I would think his boss would have called him and scheduled a meeting and he didn’t. Bryan and I are worried since he is the new guy and they will fire a supervisor over union any day. That would be devastating if he lost his job we just bought a house. We are nervous but I assured him that they wouldn’t fire him over that incident. Also it was a holiday so I imagine that the senior leadership might want to work since they get time and a half.

Mailbox
I know this might sound insane to some of you but I have been searching forever for the perfect mailbox for our new house. It seems a bit odd that it has become so important to me but I haven't have a permanent address for over a year. We had two different addresses at the Mologne house, a PO Box at the hospital, then our apartment in Maryland, now to moms friend's house in Knoxville. I just want my own address and my own mailbox. It's pivotal and means a lot more than just a mailbox. It a permanent place to live, it's our very own address for what I hope is a very long time. It means stability and normalacy.
I finally found the perfect one, it's copper with a brown base. It's natural looking and fits with the decor of our house. I love it and can't wait until I can install it.

Add another problem to the list
August 29th, 2007
Bryan got his CPAP machine so now I get to sleep with darth vader. I am sure it will be a lot to get used to. He went to eye appointment and the tech said there is definitely something wrong with his peripheral vision. I guess the doctor will call and let us know if there is any way they can fix it. Always something. We have to work on getting our orders renewed again since he is past his ETS date and in order to get paid and stay in the system than we will have to do it again.

Non-Medical Attendent
August 28th, 2007
Tonight Bryan has another sleep study to get fitted for his CPAP machine. We had lots of things to do today around the hospital and my non medical attendant money has still not been back paid. They are still telling them no, it’s amazing how I did the job that every other wife or parent did but since we were assigned I didn’t get paid. It blows my mind that they can tell me no. They owe me over 25 grand at this point. I quit my job because I not only wanted to take care of my husband but because the Army was hiring me to do it. They would had to hired someone to take care of him if I was not there but since I was and was assigned then they are getting off for free. It’s so irritating. We will be jumping over the chain of command at Walter Reed in two weeks if this does not get fixed.

Back to WRAMC
August 27th, 2007
We arrived in D.C. and were not happy to be back here. That drive is so long. Bryan had an optomology appointment today because we wanted to make sure nothing was wrong with his eyes from the blast. He has been having some problem with his peripheral vision. The doctor said everything was fine but wanted to order him a visual test to make sure

Union Workers
August 24th, 2007
Today another supervisor had to be on shift with Bryan in case the man started trouble with him again. Apparently a union worker can hit Bryan but since there is no other non union worker there to witness than the union workers will take this mans side and go against Bryan. Even though they don’t like this man and think he is lazy they have to take his side. It seems really backwards to me. We are heading to Walter Reed on Sunday so it might be good for Bryan to have a week off for things to cool down.

Without a job?
August 23rd, 2007
I was in Nashville the next few days to get my brakes worked on. Bryan called tonight and said that this union worker that has been giving him trouble called the plant’s 911. I asked him what happened and this man had not been working very much since he started there. He finally saw that he took out the trash cans so Bryan went up to him tapped him on the shoulder and said thanks for taking out the trash. This man had a very delayed reaction and acted like he was scared and swung his elbow at Bryan and decided to call 911. He told them that Bryan assaulted him. The police came to do their report and was actually laughing when the worker told them that Bryan said thanks. It was ridiculous however since this man is union he can nearly get away with anything. Bryan was upset that this man was trying to target him.

Wrecked Truck
August 15, 2007
This morning we had to go and pick out the flooring that we wanted in the house. Our meeting was at 8 so Bryan did not get to sleep in. He told me when we were about to leave to run back in and put his uniform in the dryer. I get down there and he had already done it when he got home last night. I was irritated and was pulling out of the driveway when I smacked a small tree with Bryan’s truck that I did not see. We both jumped out and I messed up the bumper, the back quarter panel, and the tailgate. I was so upset. Bryan’s truck is still like new and I messed it up. I am usually an excellent driver so I can’t believe this happened. It is not like we needed another expense when we are trying to buy a house. Sometimes I can’t understand why something always goes wrong. We decided to upgrade the carpet and the hardwood floors to a style that is more of our likings. Bryan then had to go to work. He ended up working until 2 a.m. I am so proud of him he is working so hard and I can’t see how his feet are taking it.

Picking out lighting
August 14, 2007
Today we got to go and pick out the lighting that we want in our new house. It was pretty overwhelming because there were so many choices. The builder had picked oiled bronze and we changed all of them to brushed nickel. It was fun but hard to come to a decision. It is now 1 a.m. and Bryan is not off work yet. I feel so bad for him because everything possible went wrong for him at work. He also fell down because his golf cart was broken and he twisted his bad knee and ankle. I know he is exhausted and I can’t even comprehend how he is getting through it most days. Some nights I watch him walk up the stairs and R and B's house and he can barely make it. He is using his hands on the steps in front of him or he takes a good 10 minutes to get up them. I hope he can sleep in tomorrow and ice his feet.

Alone
August 11, 2007
Bryan has had to work all weekend and I have been pretty bored without him. I don’t exactly like him working nights. It’s just like when he was deployed and I ate dinner alone and spent most nights by myself. It is nice to have R and B around but I can’t wait to have my own space back. I can’t wait to have closets especially and our new house has plenty of them.

We have a home
August 10, 2007
We heard from the realtor and we got the house. We are so excited! The builder is to pay 3 thousand of closing costs so that should help us in the end. That has been one good thing about Bryan getting injured is that we got the TSGLI insurance money therefore we can use that to buy a house. The house is beautiful, it has four bedrooms and three and a half baths and it’s almost 3,000 square feet. It is mostly brick and stacked stone on the outside and it is on an acre of land. There are also two fireplaces and stainless steel appliances. If we could have built this home ourselves what the builder put in the house is exactly what we would have picked. I hope that we can get all the documents that we need and close by the 19th of September.
Also today Bryan and I have been together for five years. Sometimes it seems like it was yesterday that we met or it feels like its been decades. We didn’t do anything fun today. We found out that we got a storage unit that is climate controlled and moved our things into it. The lady that manages the place gave it to us for free. She was so kind, her son is in Iraq. She had some of her friends move it into the unit so we didn’t have to and we gave them some money for doing it. What a relief and a blessing to have our things into storage now.

Lovely Med Hold
August 9, 2007
We made it into D.C. around 1 this morning. We stayed at our friend D's house and we are so exhausted because we have to get up early and head in to Walter Reed for this meeting. All it was about was the investigator for Bryan’s clearance at the ATF needed to ask a few more questions. The 1SGT didn’t even meet with us and we were appalled that this couldn’t have been done at the end of the month when we came back into town. We told the investigator that we drove 9 hours to come here and he felt horrible. He couldn’t believe that the 1SGT didn’t tell him we were on leave or that he didn’t tell us that he was coming to complete the investigation. He said that this investigation could have been done in Knoxville. It makes me so steaming mad.

The Army still owns us
August 8, 2007
Today was Bryan’s first real day at work. I had an interview with the Red Cross for a position with the Hurricane Katrina victims. I finished the interview and decided based on the huge case load, the fact that I would be working in public housing, and the contract is about to end that I will not take it. The interviewer said that it was an extremely stressful job and I honestly don’t need anymore stress.
Around 1:30 Bryan called and informed me that his platoon sergeant called and said that he had a note on his desk from the 1SGT that said he needs to come to D.C. for a meeting at 10:30 tomorrow morning. I was appalled. I started bawling again (the story of my life). I can't believe that we can't get on with our lives. I figured since the commander was on board with Bryan taking this job that this would not happen, especially two days after we arrived here. Bryan asked his platoon sergeant to make sure it was an important meeting and the 1SGT insisted that it was. I am so upset I don’t want to drive all the way there again. We figured this was a test so Bryan is going to go with it this time. On our way out of town we decided to write the contract on that house.

On the Road
August 6, 2007
We drove from Silver Spring Maryland to Knoxville Tennessee today. It was a long ride with the trailer on the back but we made it in about 10 hours. As we were leaving there was a ton of traffic I won’t be missing that at all. Once we got here we were completely exhausted.

Challenges
August 5, 2007
Today was the day that we were supposed to be leaving but it isn’t going to happen. Bryan still doesn’t have a proper trailer hitch and he had Advanced Auto parts had it sent over night. We had planned on putting the trailer into the garage overnight but it doesn’t fit. I guess our neighborhood is safe enough that we don’t have to worry about anyone breaking into our trailer. I am so exhausted and sleeping on that air mattress again is not comfortable. I can’t wait to have our own place because I am not moving for a long time.

Generous People
August 4, 2007
Well I woke up bright and early this morning and started to pack. We have acquired more things in this tiny apartment than I expected. I don’t think we can get it all done by tomorrow. Bryan is still sleeping so I am mainly doing all the packing by myself. Once he gets up he will go locate a trailer and a hitch. I have no idea how we are going to lift this solid wood furniture up the stairs.
Bryan got the trailer and the people that owned the store saw Bryan’s Purple Heart license plate and gave us a few extra days to unload. That was so nice and generous for them to do that for free. They also said to go down New Hampshire and there are day laborers there that can help with the furniture. Bryan went down there and picked up four laborers and they came to our house to help carry the furniture. They didn’t ask for much pay but it was so hot and they did it so fast that we paid them extra. We were so thankful that they came to help.

Beginning our Ending
August 3, 2007
Today was my last day keeping the little girl that I have babysat for the last couple of months. Bryan called and said that the people we rent from want our things moved out as soon possible so they can rent it to someone else. Bryan thinks that we can get everything packed and moved by Sunday. I don’t really see how this is going to happen. Bryan doesn’t have a trailer hitch on his truck so he will have to go and get one. That will be expensive plus the trailer rental. We weren’t expecting to move until the end of the month when we came back. We of course had difference of opinion on this matter. We also haven’t identified a storage unit so who knows where we will keep our things until we can buy a house.
