Memorial Day Parade

Today is Memorial day and Bryan was invited by the 101st members to ride in the Parade. I was told I couldn't come so I dropped Bryan off at the Metro so he could ride it there and wouldn't have to worry about parking. I wished I could have spent the day with him but it was cool he could be in the Parade. Thank you all veterans past and present for you service.

Scary Plane Ride

May 24th, 2007
Well time to leave paradise. We don’t want to get back to the real world but I guess we must. We got to the airport where we found out that we might get bumped to a later plane because the flight is overbooked. The customs line was out to the curb so we by passed all of them and went to the special needs line thankfully because Bryan couldn’t stand in that line. We get into the airport and the air conditioning is broken. It is about 90 degrees in this place and it’s miserable. We get on the plane where we are in the very back of the air craft. This two men and a woman who were from St. Thomas decide to get belligerent and drunk. They were starting to make me a bit nervous and the captain of the plane decides to come out and reprimand them and wrote them a citation. She said if they didn’t contain themselves that the US Marshalls would be waiting on them. Then we hit very bad turbulence and the lady beside me and Bryan spilt their drinks all over themselves. When we finally got off the Marshalls were waiting on them where they got yelled at.

Our next flight was supposed to be an hour long. We get on the plane the air is blowing out so hot. The pilot gets on and says the engine won’t start and we needed to be towed back in and jump started. Of course this made me nervous. We got delayed an hour and finally made it home. I told Bryan that if I put the correct spin on our experiences it could make quite a comedy.

St. John

May 22nd, 2007
Today we headed to St. John to go snorkeling at Trunk Bay. It was amazing and the coral and fish were amazing. It was great we snorkeled around holding hands. We then went over to Cinnamon bay and had lunch and snorkeled there some more. We saw this manta ray about 6 feet under us it was amazing. Bryan’s feet were hurting pretty bad so we headed back to the room to get ready for dinner where we discovered we were both severely sun burnt.

Shopping

May 21st, 2007
Today we took the day easy and went to Charlotte Amaille to shop. There Bryan bought me a beautiful blue diamond ring. We are getting it sized and will pick it up on Monday. We had a great day just hanging out together.

2 year Anniversary

May 20th, 2007
Today is our two year anniversary. Bryan with his short term memory left my present at home but that is ok. We planned a catamaran sunset sail but the guy already had someone else booked and cancelled at the last minute. We spent the day getting massages and snorkeling. We headed to dinner at the banana tree grill overlooking the ocean. It was such a great day. We really enjoyed spending time together. When we got back to the room Bryan said he wanted to play hot and cold. I was searching all over the condo where I found a beautiful Victoria’s secret box. He is so romantic.

Close to flying

May 19th, 2007
Bryan went out and scuba again and I slept in. I still wasn’t feeling great from the day before. When he got back we parasailed even though I am scared of heights. Both of us had never done it before and basically it was like riding a huge swing and the views from up top was amazing.

Green at the Gills

May 18th, 2007
Today Bryan and I headed out to the ocean so Bryan could do his open water dives for his scuba certification. The waves were huge, I got seasick and everyone else on the boat kept vomiting. I wanted to snorkel while he was scuba but I had to watch every wave that came in to keep from getting sick. I had taken medicine to help but it really didn’t work.

Bryan took a scuba class for free at Walter Reed. His instructor was great as he would drive from North Carolina once a month to teach these wounded soldiers how to scuba. He used to be an instructor in St. Thomas so he told us of the hot spots to go. Bryan was so excited to do his open water dives. He did a great job and has several more dives while he is here.

Relaxing

May 16th, 2007
Today we slept in late and enjoyed making phone calls to plan out our 9 days in paradise. Bryan made all the phone calls and it was such a nice thing for him to do since I usually plan everything. I appreciated the break very much. We also went on a kayak tour and snorkeled in the lagoon. We saw a beautiful sea turtle and the guide said that it was the first time he had seen one in the lagoon so it was a treat to see him there. Bryan loved the sea turtle and he can’t wait to get in the water and scuba

Vacation!

May 15th, 2007
Today we left for a well deserved much needed vacation for our 2nd wedding anniversary. We did not get to spend our first together as Bryan was in the sand box but I had a wonderful friend who spent the day with me last year. We were so happy to escape Walter Reed and escape reality for a while. The trip started off for us how it usually does, “sorry ladies and gentlemen but it seems that we are having a maintenance issue on the plane”. This time the plane had a problem with the phones and the pilot and flight attendants couldn’t communicate. Not sure why every time we fly some goes wrong with the plane.

Guess we are staying

May 13th, 2007
We found out today that the jerk Colonel decided that he did not want to buy the house at the last minute. Honestly I am glad because he wanted to screw us over and take the cowardly way of doing it. I hate it for the people with live with however. They have been so kind to us and I hope that us living here did not break the deal for the sell of his house. Sounds like we will probably be here for at least another 30 days.

Can we stay or do we go?

May 11th, 2007
Today the people we rent from came downstairs and informed us that we were not going to be able to stay. The Colonel who is buying the house doesn’t want us to stay and failed to inform us of this fact even though he told us we could stay. I happened to have the day off work so I spent the day frantically looking on craigs list looking for someone else’s basement apartment to live in temporarily. Our current situation is every changing and always stressful. I found a lovely basement apartment and the lady who owned the house worked for the VA and wanted a soldier to live there. She wanted us to come by tonight but we were headed to an Armed Forces Gala. I wrote her back and said that we were busy but any other night of the week would work. The next morning we received an e-mail from her saying sorry we couldn’t come by but she rented the apartment out to a couple in her neighborhood. Why does the black cloud and drama always follow us?

My Birthday

May 2nd, 2007
Today is my birthday. Bryan got up early and headed to his appointment and I had a beautiful wrapped box lying on my pillow when I awoke. I called him and he said to open it. It was a pretty silver ring with tiny diamonds in it. I loved it. Dad and I found an arboretum in downtown DC that we decided to go to. They had the most beautiful flowers that I have ever seen. Dad and I share that passion so we loved looking at the mature azaleas. It was a great spring day and we enjoyed ourselves.

When we got back Bryan was on his way home. He walked in the door with a beautiful bouquet of tulips that my mom had ordered me. I loved them and they are my favorites. Bryan had also bought me a bouquet of flowers as well. We have a couples massage this afternoon and my dad is getting a massage at the same time. I had a facial after that and it was very relaxing. We went to the melting pot for dinner and I was greeted there with balloons and chocolate from my dad on the table. We had a great dinner and afterwards the server showed up and put down the check and another box from Bryan. He got me a matching necklace to my earrings that he bought me. I feel really loved and blessed today.

Dad is here again

May 1st, 2007
My dad is here again and my birthday is tomorrow. Bryan has a mandatory VA appointment that he can’t change so we will spend most of the day without him.
